How does any auto company fail, for that matter? Some blame the Unions for laziness and greed. Some blame the overdependence and overusage of foreign parts. Some are just baffled. However you look at it, pictures usually never lie.
Recently, a customer came to us after a front end accident to their Saturn SUV. The Saturn was newer - manufactured in 10/08 - and had only one owner, had never been in an accident before, and was really well taken care of. After writing an initial express estimate, we had her bring in her vehicle for a front bumper replacement. As it always goes with express estimates, there is always hidden damage behind the bumper, so we had to teardown the bumper cover, absorbers and reinforcement. What we encountered is represented in the image above.
Now, take a really close look at the pic of the torn-down Saturn. Can you spot 3 really concerning issues? Hint: It isn't accident damage.
Well, if your 3 choices were very bad paint runs, incomplete coating, and rust at every metal seam, then you would be the person to win our $1M prize (we're not really giving money away - sorry). This is the kind of work Saturn was producing before Penske pulled their offer out of the mix last year. This is the kind of work that was receiving the GM quality stamp of approval before good, hardworking citizens like yourselves were purchasing what everyone believed to be nice, affordable and dependable vehicles.
Would you give this kind of work your quality stamp of approval?
From all of us here at Regional Auto Center, have a great weekend. And, remember to Drive Safely... We'll Wait.
